Working as a Vehicle Paint Technician involves combining technical expertise with precision and craftsmanship. Using advanced refinishing systems, colour-matching tools, and application techniques, you will ensure vehicles are returned to customers, insurers, fleets, and hire companies in pristine, showroom-quality condition.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing vehicle surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, filling, and priming to ensure optimal finish and adhesion.
- Mixing, matching, and adjusting paint colours using digital colour-matching tools and manufacturer paint codes to achieve accurate and consistent results.
- Applying base coats, clear coats, and specialist finishes using spray guns and controlled-environment spray booths in line with manufacturer and industry standards.
- Carrying out paint rectification work, such as polishing, blending, and fading techniques, to create seamless transitions and remove defects or imperfections.
- Maintaining paint equipment and spray booths, ensuring all tools, filters, and ventilation systems operate safely and effectively.
- Documenting materials, processes, and batch codes for compliance, traceability, and insurance reporting requirements.
