“People think the automotive industry is old-fashioned, but that couldn’t be further from the truth”

After completing my studies, the search for a graduate role proved challenging due to limited openings. Determined to find an opportunity that matched both my ambitions and values, I discovered LKQ UK & Ireland’s graduate scheme.
I wanted to find the best opportunity I could. When I came across LKQ UK & Ireland, it wasn’t just the role that caught my attention—it was the people and the culture.
The atmosphere during the assessment day was a turning point. The passion, enthusiasm, and sense of community among the colleague’s that made a lasting impression.
From day one, it became clear that LKQ UK & Ireland offered more than just a job—it offered a community. The organisation’s collaborative and inclusive culture was a driving force in my positive experience. The best part of my job is the camaraderie. I work alongside people from across the globe, and there’s a shared mission that brings us together.
This global collaboration fostered a sense of belonging and reinforced my decision to pursue a long-term career in automotive.
Before joining LKQ UK & Ireland, I began my professional journey in the public sector, where I developed strong skills in accountability and responsibility—traits that remain central in my current role.
Those values—accountability and responsibility—are part of how I work every day. But now, in automotive, there’s also so much room to be creative and explore new areas.
More specifically, the move to automotive with a focus on finance opened even more doors.
While public perception often leans on outdated stereotypes of the automotive industry, my experience tells a different story. People think the automotive industry is old-fashioned or male-dominated, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s inclusive, modern, and full of opportunity.
I’d love others to see beyond the stereotypes too and help to make the industry more appealing and accessible to a wider talent pool.
My message to others considering a career in the automotive sector is “just do it.” Take that leap of faith. If the opportunity is there and it feels right—go for it. People don’t realise how broad and impactful this industry is.” From cutting-edge technology to global logistics and sustainability, I see the automotive industry as deeply connected to societal change and progress. The automotive industry is not just about cars—it’s about people, innovation, and the future.
