The automotive industry is my passion, and whether people understand that or not doesn’t really matter to me anymore. This is what I love, and this is what I’ll always do.
I’ve been involved in automotive from the day I was born. I’ve always been around the car racing scene and my passion has grown massively as I’ve gotten older, which eventually led me to start racing myself. I’m now in my seventh full season.
Work-wise, I entered the industry at 16, straight out of secondary school. I started a Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance apprenticeship, which I stayed in for a year before moving into my current Business Administration apprenticeship.
Ever since I properly got involved in the sector at 16, I knew it wouldn’t always be easy, but I also knew it was exactly where I wanted to be. At first, I felt like I had to prove myself, but as I’ve gotten older (I’m now 18), I’ve realised I don’t have to earn my place – I belong here just as much as anyone else.
The automotive industry is my passion, and whether people understand that or not doesn’t really matter to me anymore. This is what I love, and this is what I’ll always do. I’d also love to do more talks at events about topics like this, including the impact motorsport has on mental health, and helping people realise they deserve to be in spaces they’re passionate about.
The thing I love most about what I do is inspiring other people and making them feel even slightly better about themselves. I’ve always spoken openly about mental health, but now I get to do that on a much bigger scale through social media.
I want people to feel less alone and know that they deserve to be in spaces where they might feel they don’t belong. I’ve been there myself and navigated overcoming it, and now I get to share that journey through my content. If I can help just one person feel more confident in themselves, then that’s a huge achievement to me.
Day to day, I’m balancing a full-time Business Administration apprenticeship alongside everything that comes with racing.
One day, I’d love to turn my motorsport and content creation into my full-time career because that’s where my real passion lies – inspiring people, helping others, and creating funny and relatable content.
Alongside my apprenticeship, I’m managing YouTube, my Spotify podcast, my merch store, social media, going to the gym, editing videos, and heading down to the yard with my dad to get the stock car ready. It’s a lot to juggle, but I genuinely love every part of it because it’s all helping me build the future I dream of.
The automotive sector is changing rapidly, especially with manufacturers introducing more electric vehicles. It’s definitely better for the environment, but I’ll admit it’s a little sad for me because I love the nitty-gritty diesel and dirty stuff! But that’s the way the world is going.
From a female perspective, I love seeing more and more women welcomed into the sector. I’ve met some amazing people through automotive and motorsport, made friends for life, and it’s great to see more girls getting involved in something they’re passionate about.
One thing I would say to someone considering a career in automotive is: be careful… it’s addictive!
If you’re someone who lives and breathes automotive or motorsport, I’d definitely say give it a go. I’m so grateful for all the opportunities it’s given me, the people I’ve met, and the experiences I’ve had.
It isn’t always straightforward, but nothing worth doing ever is. Especially to the girls reading this – if you love it, do it. Don’t let anyone make you feel like you don’t belong, because I promise you do. If you set your mind to something and stick with it, you really can achieve anything.
